Next Meeting - June 20, 2013

Speaker - Archeologist Douglas Mangum

The next meeting of the Texas Heritage Society will he held on June 20, 2013 at 6:30 pm, the third Thursday of the month, in the administration building at The Forum, 1555 W. Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands, Texas. 

Our speaker will be Douglas Mangum, historian and archeologist with Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. in Houston, Texas.  Douglas G. Mangum graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in archeology in 1994 and received a M.A. in History from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2010.  He worked for the U. S. Forest Service before joining the staff at Moore Archeological Consulting where he is a Principal Investigator as well as Historian and GIS Manager and co-manages the fieldwork the firm has conducted in and around the San Jacinto Battleground.  He will speak about battlefield excavations in Texas and touch on the Philip Nolan expedition.
